Our Story

Tam Shepherds has been part of Glasgow since 1886.

For 140 years, our family-run shop sold magic, practical jokes, fancy dress and curiosities from the heart of Glasgow city centre.

Generations of customers visited us - whether looking for their first magic trick,  last-minute costume, a practical joke or simply something a little unusual.

In November 2024, our physical shop closed as the building was being redeveloped and the costs of running an independent city-centre shop continued to rise.

Tam Shepherds continues online, run by the same family.

Today we continue to sell magic, classic jokes, playing cards, books, unusual novelties and Tam Shepherds merchandise, while keeping alive the character and history of the original shop.

Thank you for supporting Tam Shepherds and helping us continue a Glasgow institution that began in 1886.
